following the heat

Tell me why we go on a hike on the hottest day of the summer. It was in the hundreds yesterday and my mom decided that we would all wake up at 6:45 AM, get ready and go for a hike somewhere in Saratoga. I wanted to sleep in because I didn't get home until 11 last night because Si-Yao invited me to her church. So, all I wanted was a day to relax and regain sleep from getting up early in zero period. Sadly, we still went on the hike.

It was like we were the only people there. I questioned if it was even a real path. There was a lot of poison oak and bugs too. I took my camera and took a few pictures. I really want to get it developed to see how the pics. turn out. They're from a bunch of random places (mission peak, hiking, other places XD). After the hike, we took a picture. Most people think that I'm an obedient girl that listens to whatever her parents or teachers tell her to do. Most people don't know that I don't do that all of the time. When they took the picture, I wouldn't smile. I wouldn't smile because it was not fun and I hate being forced to smile when something isn't fun. So in the picture, I put on this fake smile that looked like something was wrong with my mouth, LOL.

After the hike, I fell asleep in the car. When I got home, I crashed in my bed, but I didn't fall asleep. I was going to until Wilson texted me saying that he had a dream that I hated him. He said that all of his dreams come true, haha. It would be funny to see if actually did.

I went out to the den and watched a movie instead. Not my choice, but my sister's choice. We watched Thomas the train engine or something. How lame.

After this, we went to watch the San Jose Giants game. Yeah, the San Jose Giants (not S. F.). They won 10-3. There was this creepy guy behind us that looked homeless and kept shouting random things. His hair was all nasty and he kept saying "BOOOO." I was tempted to take a picture and put him up here, but I was scared he was going to see. Another weird thing at the game was the people who sang the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America. That was horrid. They changed the song and they were off pitch and at times, it didn't sound like the song. The guy who sang God Bless America held this really long note and then afterwards there was complete silence in the stadium. My brother and I looked at each other and just laughed. It was as if he was waiting for applause which never came.

ready for a change

School starts tomorrow and it seemed like my summer has gone by so quickly. Was it my best summer? No, but at least I got a lot of summer classes done so now I have my perfect schedule.

I remember when I first came to MHS. A little freshman. I joined the volleyball team and softball team and did orchestra. Received a 4.0. Looking back on that, it seemed like I had no life. I mean, I was involved in extracurricular activities, but it seemed like I never really got to relax and go out. Sophomore year was a little different. I guess I realized that I wanted to do more than study. I chose super hard classes though and I think I slacked off a little too much. Which is one reason why I got a C in Algebra II/ Trig and 2 B's, one in Honors Chemistry and the other in A.P. World.

This year I am ready for a change. I know what I have to do. Freshmen year I was too uptight, Sophomore year I was too relaxed. I am soo determined this year and now I actually have a feeling that I can have fun and get good grades at the same time. 4.0 this year? I wish. I have A.P. Chem so I'm nervous about that. I'm just going to push from the very beginning and see where that takes me.

This year is super exciting for me though. I made it into Journalism, surprising and now I am co-President w/ Ric Chi of the Key Club. It may seem like I have a lot to handle because I am in marching band and tutoring for 6 weeks and then badminton, but I love to push myself and try my best. Sometimes, I may act lazy, but this year I really am going to try. It's for the best.

black and white

Major tan lines from band camp. Major. At first I didn't think they were that bad, but I guess everyone said they were pretty bad. The difference was "black and white."

Starting this morning, the whole band got to cut in front of line for registration. Sucks for everyone waiting in line who had to leave and get out of line to let us cut. I was determined to get an okay looking picture this year, but as usual, it sucked. They zoomed in on my head and then they cut off part of my hair. Seriously, I hate it. I was so tempted to ask them if I could take it again. After the horrible ID pictures we got in line to look at our schedules. I'm so excited. I got all of the classes I wanted. Except, I forgot to tell Ms. Harke that I wanted to take Spanish. I knew I was missing something. I took Photography instead of Spanish, but I'll change that later.

We marched the rest of the day outside. I didn't get tan because I was wearing a shirt instead of a tank top and I made sure I applied sunscreen so I wouldn't get burned like on Friday.

I got home and yes, no US history tonight. Instead, I finished reading The Joy Luck Club a few days ago and now I'm just writing some notes in my book. I don't want to do the project, but I know that I will anyways. The book was really good. It was sad at a lot of times, but it was the good kind of sad. The sadness that touched you and got you connected with all of the characters and stories happening in the book. I wouldn't really know what being in an Asian family would feel like. Even my dad says I'm white :P

band camp - day 3

Stayed outside for the whole morning today! And got some tan lines...I guess they're not THAT bad yet. You can see them though, but that's just apart of band camp. By the time we were out for a while, my water was already burning hot. Tonight I have to put some water in the freezer.

After we worked on our marching we did a trust exercise where everyone had to sit on one another. The first time it worked pretty well except someone broke the circle.. The second time it failed. There was this one big guy and he was supposed to sit on this tiny little freshman girl, but he didn't. So the circle broke and I fell out...

Finally it was lunch time. I was going to ride my bike to Nob Hill because Allyson borrowed Keith's scooter and Kirsten brought hers. When I took my bike out from the theater, I noticed this squeaky noise. My back tire was completely flat. The inner tube broke from the tire. UGHHH. So I walked to Nob Hill instead and bought some grapes. YUM :D

We went back and played music and watched Kaldy beat Albert at arm wrestling. I want to see the drill for the show! This blog entry is really short, but that's ok. At least I still wrote something!

cluck like a chicken

Here I am, I guess you could call it camping. Except that I'm camping in an RV and there's internet here.

Yesterday we all went to the Sonoma County Fair like we do every year. I guess it's becoming a tradition. It's basically this big fair with rides, food, and animals like cows, pigs, chickens etc. They have contests to see which animals are the best. It's very..country like. My mom went when she was a child and now she brings us to carry on the tradition. It's not that bad except that we have to go and see everything.

When you first go into the fair, there's this expo with a bunch of people trying to sell you things. That's where we got all of our useless gadgets that lay around the house. I mean, who needs a sushi maker, a shamwow, and this other thing called "Magic Purple." All of it was a waste of money.

After we get through the people who try and sell you things, we go around the fair and look at all of the animals. We started with the cows, which were huge. I kept thinking that one of them was going to kick me or something. We were so close to the cows that you could pet them and the stables were open and everything. Some of them looked so fat and lazy. They would just lay their eating their hay.

Next were the pigs. I saw some of the piglets and they were so cute! Makes me want a pig, but as soon as I saw the full grown pigs, I changed my mind. The pigs were big and lazy like the cows. What I found saddening was the fact that the owners would hit the pigs to make them do what they wanted. They had these big sticks and they would hit the sides of the pigs. It looked sooo painful.

After the cows and pigs were the chickens. They were annoying. We used to have a rooster that we hatched out of an egg that our uncle gave us from his farm in Montana. (I know this sounds very strange). We named him Chicken Little and when he was grown, we took him back to Montana (in a cage attatched to the back of the RV) to live at my uncle's farm. Sadly, he died soon after. At first, my uncle told us the lie that he was eaten by a wolf trying to defend the other animals. We found out that he died because he stopped eating. Made me sad when I heard the news. He hatched on my birthday. We finally got done looking at all of the animals and got free ice cream :D

We drove up here, where I'm sitting now. And we're right next to the Russian River in some town called Gurensville or something. I really wish I was home though. Won't be back until Monday. Until then, I'll probably be making friendship braclets out of boredom.

scare those kids

People have been coming to my house more. Before, I used to be like, "Don't come over!" Well, kinda. I guess I'm more open to it now. I don't really care except for my stupid sister who tries to embarrass me purposely! >:O Anh Thai, Di-an, and Sarah came over after Physics and we just played Wii fit. This was on..like tuesday and thursday XD I had to make Di-an this friendship bracelet and I sware I wanted to keep it. It was colorful and it zig-zagged and it was adjustable! I had to give it to her though; she gave us a ride home.

I went to Tim Kim's birthday thing at Olive Garden on Friday. Tim finally got a phone. I bet he's going to be too lazy to activate it..The food at Olive Garden was good :D Everyone got pretty full except for Tomy and maybe Arnold. They just kept eating. They counted the calories afterward and it turns out that Tomy ate about 2500 calories. I split dessert with Allyson Wong and it was good. Some kind of berries and cream. When the bill came, it came out to like over 300 dollars. Junette, her boyfriend, and this girl named Young didn't bring any money. They thought Tim was going to pay... What I don't get is, they didn't bring any money, Tim told them that he wasn't paying for them, and yet they still ate and ordered a lot of food. Their bill alone between the 4 of them was like 133 or something. In the end, Michelle Cardenas had to pay for them. I felt so bad for her. I had no money left except a quarter, which I gave them.

Allyson slept over at my house. Well, more like our RV. We brought some movies in there: Kiki's Delivery Service and Anastasia and made some friendship bracelets and talked. We ate the rest of our dinner from Olive Garden too :P We fell asleep around 2ish, while watching Anastasia.

Saturday, the day of the pool party thing. I would say more like get-together; casual. Anyways, Allyson was starving so she made noodles for breakfast and then ate like 4 pieces of toast and this thing called an egg in a nest, which is basically just an egg fried in the middle of a piece of bread. We played some game called raving rabbids; I'm not sure what it is. And then we went back into the RV.

A few moments later Swan and Perry came out of nowhere.. They came in the RV and Perry told everyone how we was waiting outside for the past 20 minutes trying to call Allyson 7 times and then calling other people who would not answer to try and get my number. Finally, he saw Swan so he just came. A few moments later Arnold and Tomy came. I had no idea that they were going to come, let alone how they found my house. I was surprised because I didn't invite them on facebook and they didn't even tell me they wanted to come. They came just because Rochelle told them to and they didn't have enough money to go bowling. Rochelle, Jennifer Ruperto's sister, came to my house too. Another unexpected visitor. It's cool though, I didn't mind. She got left here while Jennifer and her mom went to go get a haircut. She was trying to figure out the bill from last night because she was getting charged like 60 over. We finally figured it out, I think. That took a while.

We ate pizza and then went swimming after Arnold and Tomy went to go bowling because someone was gonna pay for them. Swimming was pretty fun. Swan and Perry were facscinated by these torpedos that you throw in the water. Swan totally pushed me into the water too -_______-

Allyson had to go so I was there with Perry and Tim. We didn't really do much except talk about American Apparel jackets. Tim bought one! :D Another customer :P

Today was Kohl's Cares for Kids. I set my alarm for 5:20, but I didn't wake up until 5:30 or so. I was one minute late, Bettina Pancho pointed out. I tried to get there earlier, but my dad took a while to get up. Each volunteer got paired up with a different kid. I got a boy who was in 6th grade. He was pretty easy to shop with. Not picky or anything and he knew what he needed to get. I kind of wanted a cute, little kid because they are...well, cute and little XD THE SHOES WERE EXPENSIVE! They were like 42 bucks. I think he liked them a lot, but still it made us go over. So we couldn't get him this jacket, but he can go back and buy it later with the 20 kohl's bucks he got for spending 100 dollars. We finished pretty fast and then we just waited around until clean-up which only required a few people to help out. Sarah Liaw came out a while later. She didn't look happy. Her kid was kind of a pain. She said that she treated her like a slave. And from what I saw, that was true. The girl asked her to peel her orange and when sarah "punctured it" she made her peel her another one. I felt bad for her. A lot of people showed up which was awesome! :D I just asked everyone that I could find if they wanted to go and most of them said either yes or maybe. Albert and Darren showed up a little late but still in time. Albert looked scary. His hair was all spiked and it made him look evil..A lot of the people who I asked didn't really like little kids, but they still went :P Thanks to everyone who came! :D

After Kohl's, Anh, Bettina, Brian, and I went to Bettina's new house/condo/apartment place. It was nice! Her house quadrupled in size. Her room was cool too. It had a couch in it and everything. After her house, I made a pizza for lunch because we had an extra and then me, my dad and my brother and sisters went to best buy, borders, and jamba juice. I'm full now, but my mom just made macaroni and cheese...
